Back in the early 70's snowmobiling, or "Ski-Dooing," as people used to call it, was becoming a very popular sport. Local snowmobile enthusiasts felt the need to form some sort of organization, or club, to help safely promote the new, fun sport of snowmobiling for the whole family to enjoy.

The Sardinia Snowmobile Club was organized in 1970, and incorporated in 1971. The club enjoyed many years of high membership, but by the late 70's into the mid 80's, with the decline of snowmobiling due to no interconnecting trail systems and low snow fall, only 6 families made up the club roster. In 1990 club members voted to call themselves the Pioneer Sno Surfers / Sardinia Snowmobile Club Inc.

With this new name, and a lot of determination on the part of existing members to increase the numbers in the club, active participation grew tremendously. Snowmobiling has since rebounded to record numbers and once again has become a fun and exciting wintertime sport for the whole family. For many years, the club has held it's annual 25 mile Dice Run at the Sardinia Town Hall on Savage Road and later at Pioneer Motorsports every February. In 1989 a Chicken Barbecue was added to the Dice Run and has become an annual event- check the Upcoming Events page for information on this year's Dice Run. Other annual events include a Christmas party and family winter rides.

Monthly Club meetings are usually held at 7:00 p.m. on the Second Tuesday of each month at Pioneer Motorsports on Route 16 in Chaffee. New members are always welcome- get involved and join our club! Watch the upcoming events page for the current dates. Think Snow! Kelly Roblee, Former/Current Pres.
